Drakedreper

Bendik HK (Bendik Hovik Kjeldsberg) follows up his Norwegian Grammy-nominated debut Progressive Rock Music with his second album, Drakedreper.

Released to critical acclaim, Drakedreper was also nominated for the Norwegian Grammy Awards (Spellemannprisen) and received top reviews, including 6/6 in Aftenposten, which described it as “electronica in the spirit of progressive rock” and highlighted Bendik HK as “among the strongest names in the new wave of Norwegian electronic artists.” The album also received 5/6 in Klassekampen.

Bendik HK is known from the Oslo club scene as a composer, producer and DJ. He regularly works with artists such as Emilie Nicolas, Ary, Gundelach and Pantha du Prince, to name a few. He has traveled internationally with both his own and others’ music, performing in clubs and festivals such as Berghain, Sónar, Primavera Sound and MUTEK, in addition to his own concert at Boiler Room.

This rhythmically driven club album draws from historical genres such as UK breakbeat, Detroit techno and American minimalism, while simultaneously challenging and reshaping them through new ways of thinking about club music. With a meticulous attention to detail, Drakedreper pulls the listener into the dark intensity of the club while remaining a deeply immersive listening experience.

From video games to classical music and iconic films, the album is filled with subtle nods, samples and hidden surprises for observant listeners to uncover.
