On rare occasions, an energy field arises in music that the laws of the earth and physical limitations have difficulty explaining. And 13 years on from when saxophonist and bandleader Kjetil Møster joined forces with Nikolai Eilertsen (bass), Kenneth Kapstad (drums) and Hans Magnus “Snah” Ryan (guitar), this force field of electric jazz, psychedelic rock and freeform music is in no way about to wane.
The Norwegian supergroup Møster!, with its tentacles in bands like Motorpsycho, Bigbang, Needlepoint, Spidergawd and Elephant9, has become a force of nature to be reckoned with. At top international level.
On August 7th, 2026, a new chapter in the band's history is launched: The album Bolts follows the two-year-old, Norwegian Grammy-nominated album Springs, and is a kind of yin to Springs' yang, where the band returns "back home" to the intuitive, the core that grounds them: loud and fierce interaction over simple, primal ideas.
Recorded live over the course of four intense days at Duper Studio in Bergen, Bolts is produced in a two-team with "the fifth Møster", the accomplished producer Jørgen Træen.
– After several concerts in Norway and Europe following Springs, it became clear along the way that we all felt a momentum and an inexhaustible musical energy as a live band, which we just had to capture to tape, says Kjetil Møster.
Where Springs was the sound of a band with a spring in every musical step, a distinct studio album, full of finesse, intricate details and groundbreaking musicianship, Bolts is the sound of a band that hammers its musical ideas into rock solid ground and proves once and for all that there is no equal.
An exclusive preview of Bolts will take place during the Lyse Netter festival in Moss, Friday, June 12th, 2026, and coincides with the release of the first single from the album Desert Ride (out digitally on Action Jazz June 5th).
The album will be released ahead of Møster!'s concert during the Oslo Jazz Festival, at BLÅ on Thursday, August 13th, before the band sets course for Europe in September 2026.
